The story behind the artwork
The Somali A-rag celebrates the Somali people, language, and culture.
The blue color is in reference to the neighboring Indian Ocean to the east. The 5-pointed star represents the 5 different regions where Somali people reside within the Horn of Africa.
This A-rag was also made in collaboration with rapper and author Jae Deen, who recently dropped a new album featuring his first Somali hit song.
Jae Deen wore this custom-made Somali A-rag throughout his first trip to Somalia in Ramadan 2021.
