The story behind the artwork
“The sun shineth, the land is green, and the people are strong and creative,’’ The colors of the Jamaican flag represent the beautiful shining sun (yellow), its agricultural resources (green), and its strong and creative people (Black). Jamaica was the first British Caribbean territory to gain independence and it’s the biggest English-speaking Caribbean country.
Jamaica is the birthplace of Reggae and Rastafarianism. It is also the birthplace of renowned Pan-Africanist Marcus Garvey who founded the largest Black organization in history, and the first to unite and uplift the African diasporic community on a global level (UNIA). We hope you enjoy the first Caribbean nation A-rag in our collection!
